Philosophy
Started in 2016, Kaiel Montessori is a preschool rooted in the belief that each child is unique and deserves an enjoyable start to their school experience. In serving ages 3 to 5 years old, Kaiel aims to cultivate an atmosphere that fosters growth of both the spirit and mind. Our goal is to provide each child the ability to care for him or herself, as well as their surrounding environment; to joyfully learn new things; and to grow in both independence and self-esteem.
Our curriculum allows our children to develop through work in Practical Life, Sensorial Development, Mathematics, Language and Reading, the Arts, Nature, Botany, Geography, and Physical Education.
Kaiel Montessori’s small class size (no more than 10 students each day) allows for a personalized education experience. The student’s mixed ages allow for learning from their peers, and leadership opportunities for the older students. Kaiel Montessori’s goal is to get students well-prepared for kindergarten and give them a foundation of love for school.
Kaiel Montessori is accepting of ALL students from around the Portland/Milwaukie area.
Health & Safety
The health and safety to children entrusted in the care of Kaiel Montessori is the top priority. Current COVID-19 policies include:
-drop off and pickup outside to limit people in the building
-daily recording of temperatures for children and staff
-frequent sanitizing and hand washing
-masks worn at all times for children and staff (with the exception of meal times)
-daily sanitizing of common spaces and surfaces
-air scrubber/purifier always on in the classroom

Kaiel Montessori also follows state childcare center guidelines for reporting of positive or presumptive cases or exposures, should the issue arise.
